General Description:

The Philanthropy Manager for Individual Giving is a frontline fundraiser responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift donors and prospects. The position manages a portfolio of qualified individuals and builds meaningful, long-term relationships that generate sustainable philanthropic support for the San Antonio Food Bank. The Philanthropy Manager manages the full major gift cycle, including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, gift closure, stewardship, renewal, and upgrade. The position develops personalized engagement and solicitation strategies that align each donor’s philanthropic interests with the San Antonio Food Bank’s mission and strategic priorities and is accountable for achieving annual portfolio, activity, solicitation, engagement, and revenue goals. As needed, the Philanthropy Manager may also serve as a team lead or provide support for special events, donor tours and presentations, food and fund drives, cause-related marketing initiatives, third-party events, and other special promotions.

Primary Portfolio Focus

• Manage qualified individual donors and prospects with demonstrated giving, capacity, or potential for significant philanthropic investment.
• Maintain a disciplined portfolio in which each constituent has a clear relationship strategy, next action, and appropriate stage in the donor cycle.
• Prioritize meaningful and intentional personal engagement, including face-to-face visits, tours, calls, mission experiences, events, and individualized correspondence.
• Develop annual portfolio, activity, solicitation, engagement, and revenue goals with the Director of Philanthropy for Individual Giving, and actively manage the portfolio and fundraising plan to achieve established annual goals

Essential Functions:

• Serve as the comprehensive manager for the constituents in this portfolio including prospect research, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Develop and execute annual portfolio engagement plans with clear short- and long-term goals, strategies, and measurable next steps. Including identifying opportunities for legacy gifts or planned giving.
• Develop personalized stewardship plans for individual philanthropists and family foundations in partnership with colleagues in Development, Executive Leadership, program leads and Network fundraising colleagues with clarity, purpose and actionable next steps

• Maintain complete engagement within the San Antonio Food Bank Salesforce database, keeping records up to date at all times, and utilizing tasks to develop manager portfolio.
• Responsible for an ongoing thank you program to acknowledge and recognize donors through thank you letters and other appropriate means.
• Builds personal and team capacity through ongoing curiosity and innovation.
• Provide status reports each week to the Director of Philanthropy for Individual Giving.
• Support all Philanthropy events that raise both money and food which includes San Antonio Food Bank signature special events, food & fund drives, third party events, cause-related marketing campaigns, and special promotions that have been approved by the Director of Philanthropy for Individual Giving and the Chief Sustainability Officer.
• Facilitate personal face-to-face presentations and/or tours for groups, organizations, and Individuals, as directed by Director of Philanthropy of Individual Giving and Chief Development Officer (e.g., United Way campaign presentations).
• Represent the San Antonio Food Bank at a variety of functions within the community. Comply with and abide by all personnel policies and accept additional duties as assigned by the Director of Individual Giving.
• Establish and maintain a working environment conducive to positive morale, individual style, quality, creativity and teamwork.

Qualifications:

• Three to five years’ development experience or relevant work experience.
• Work experience in fund development and marketing.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Skills in computer applications i.e., Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce.
• Good judgment and discretion.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
• Ability to organize work, time, and self.
• Orientation to detail, accuracy, and the meeting of deadlines.
• Ability to work cooperatively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.
• Ability to present a professional demeanor under a variety of conditions.
• Night and weekend work is required and routine.
• Personal vehicle is required.
• Possession of a current Texas driver's license, liability insurance and a clean driving record.
