Job summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Philanthropy Development Manager to support Stephens Memorial Hospital and Franklin Memorial Hospital in a hybrid role with an on-site presence at both locations.

You will cultivate relationships with community members, donors, physicians, employees, and prospective major gift donors, manage a portfolio of donors, and develop strategies for major and planned giving to advance MaineHealth’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFRE preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive fundraising or community relations experience with major gifts.
  • Experience supervising fundraising or development professionals strongly preferred.

MaineHealth is looking for a Philanthropy Development Manager to support Stephens Memorial Hospital and Franklin Memorial Hospital in a hybrid role with an on-site presence at both locations.

This is all about relationships. You’ll connect with community members, donors, physicians, employees, and prospective major gift donors, helping them find meaningful ways to support healthcare in the communities they care about. You’ll manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, develop strategies for major and planned gifts, support annual giving and donor stewardship, and partner with the broader Philanthropy team to grow engagement and philanthropic support.

Summary:

This Development Manager is responsible for cultivating a culture of philanthropy by building strong relationships with community members, physicians, employees, and prospective major gift donors. This role oversees all aspects of major gift fundraising related to the LHCs and donor engagement to support MaineHealth’s mission and strategic goals.

The Manager plays a critical role in coordinating with Philanthropy Services to develop and implement customized strategies to engage donors and prospects. This includes annual appeals, proposal development, estate and planned giving strategies, donor stewardship, pool management, and targeted communications. The Director is accountable for meeting major gift goals, stewarding donor relationships, and managing a portfolio of key donors and prospects. Supervises philanthropy staff as assigned.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  1. Education:Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree and/or CFRE preferred.
  2. Experience:Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in fundraising, community relations, or the equivalent with a proven track record of securing major gifts in a complex organization.
  3. Additional Skills/Requirements Required:Prior experience supervising fundraising or development professionals strongly preferred. Experience in healthcare or higher education philanthropy strongly preferred. Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills. Ability to lead strategically, work collaboratively, and inspire stakeholders. Strong organizational and project management abilities. Proficient in CRM/fundraising databases, Raiser’s Edge preferred, and Microsoft Office Suite.

The base range is an estimate and does not reflect the full value of our total compensation package.

The pay range for this position is $83,324.80to $112,736.00per year.

Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
