Job summary

Waymo is seeking a PhD student or researcher for an internship to advance its autonomous driving software. You will work on learning-based behavior policies, perception semantics, and simulation benchmarks.

The hybrid onsite internship will provide exposure to real-world data and cutting-edge research in Level 4 autonomy. Candidates should be pursuing a PhD in CS/Robotics/ML, with RL and trajectory forecasting experience, and strong Python/C++ skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or holding a PhD in CS/Robotics/ML with strong research track record.
• Experience in RL, imitation learning, and trajectory forecasting.
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch/JAX/TF).

Responsibilities

• Prototype learning-based behavior policies.
• Integrate multi-modal perception semantics.
• Build simulation benchmarks/counterfactual suites.
• Inspect 3D driving trajectories.
