Job summary

Waymo is seeking a PhD student for a hybrid onsite internship in Mountain View, CA. You will train and evaluate Loss of Control models, leveraging learned models to assess data quality and build signals that measure effectiveness.

The role requires Python ML experience (JAX or PyTorch), a solid math/statistics foundation, and familiarity with neural networks; familiarity with C++ is a plus for data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Proficient in ML in Python with JAX or PyTorch.
• Strong foundation in statistics and math.
• Familiarity with neural networks.

Responsibilities

• Train & evaluate Loss of Control model to evaluate quality impact of changes.
• Leverage existing learned models to derive signal on data quality.
• Design & implement measures of effectiveness of said signals.
• Develop or augment data pipelines to annotate synthetic training data with said signals.
