Job summary

Waymo is seeking a PhD student for a hybrid onsite internship in Mountain View, CA. You will join a team working on exploratory research, statistical evaluation of new theories, and software engineering design and implementation for the Waymo Driver.

You must be enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or a related field, fluent in Python, and comfortable with statistics and basic machine learning. Preferred: software experience in Python and strong verbal and written communication.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, or a related technical field.
• Fluency in programming in Python.
• Knowledge and comfort with statistical concepts.
• Basic knowledge of machine learning.

Responsibilities

• Exploratory research and statistical evaluation of new theories.
• Periodically presenting the above to small focus groups.
• Software engineering design and implementation.
