Job summary
3M is seeking a PhD Research & Development Intern for Summer 2027. The role offers 10–12 weeks of full-time work with a housing and transportation stipend, and on-site locations in Maplewood, MN or Austin, TX.
Interns will collaborate with global teams to advance new technologies and document experimental results for potential patenting. Ideal candidates are pursuing PhDs in science or engineering, with ML/data science, programming, and laboratory experience.
Qualifications
- Must be currently pursuing a PhD in science or engineering.
- Additional qualifications include pursuing PhD in Chemical/Mechanical/Materials/Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.
- Experience with ML/AI, data analysis, and statistics is desirable.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects toward advanced technical solutions.
- Document experimental results and procedures.
- Collaborate with global R&D teams and senior researchers.
- Develop and apply ML/data science methods to research challenges.
- Present findings and contribute to invention disclosures/patents.
