Job summary

TikTok USDS Joint Venture LLC is offering a 12-week PhD internship in Seattle. You will work with data, collaborate with ML, engineering, product and data science teams, and craft maintainable code and docs. This role emphasizes data-driven decision making and clear communication with mentors.

On-site internship with exposure to governance, security and U.S. data protection initiatives, aiming to contribute to product and research aspects of our advertising and shopping platforms.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a PhD in a technical field (CS/CE/SE).
• Commit to a 12-week Summer 2027 internship.
• Proficient coding skills and strong algorithm & data-structure knowledge.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiar with ML frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch.
• Think critically and communicate in a data-driven manner.

Responsibilities

• Work with large-scale data, logs, metrics or experiments to understand user search behavior and improve product quality.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, data science and ML teams to define requirements and deliver milestones.
• Write clear, maintainable code and documentation for assigned workstreams.
• Communicate progress, risks and learnings with mentors and stakeholders.
