Job summary

The Leibniz Centre for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT) invites applications for a Doctoral candidate (gn) to join the SEASTRONG project. Based in Bremen, Germany, you will conduct field surveys in Belize, study connectivity among mangroves, seagrass, and reefs, and contribute to quantitative analyses and modelling of ecosystem functioning.

You will collaborate with international partners, develop reproducible data workflows in R/Python, and help prepare manuscripts while gaining interdisciplinary

Qualifications

• Master in Marine Biology, Marine Ecology, or related discipline.
• Strong quantitative mindset with data handling and analysis in R or Python.
• Experience with trophic ecology; Bayesian approaches are a plus.
• Underwater surveys: scuba-diving experience preferred; diving certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate fieldwork in Belize to identify connectivity pathways among habitats.
• Collaborate with SEASTRONG researchers to optimise field data collection protocols.
• Develop and run reproducible data analyses from field campaigns (code & models).
• Prepare and contribute to scientific manuscripts based on SEASTRONG data.
• Present work at SEASTRONG workshops and scientific conferences.
