Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a pharmacy technician who supports patient medication needs during transitions of care, including discharge and take-home medications. You will interview patients, initiate applications for medication assistance, and help ensure timely submissions to government programs and vendor partners.

Qualifications

• Must be able to pass the Pharmacy math and spelling test with a minimum score of 80%.
• Must demonstrate basic knowledge of different drug types and medical terminology.
• Must show patient-centered care and professional communication skills.
• Must understand public assistance and vendor programs and forms.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with medication needs during transitions of care including discharge, clinic, and take-home meds.
• Interview patients and initiate applications for medication assistance programs.
• Complete applications for patient assistance programs and government agencies to ensure timely submissions.
• Provide updates to patient accounts to support adjudicated assistance programs and claims processing.
• Track productivity and generate reports as required by supervisor.
• Ensure timely ordering and receipt of medications from assistance programs.
• Maintain documentation of all prior authorization activity in the EMR.
