Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc is seeking a PFC Pharmacy Technician, Non-Certified to support our automated Central Fill Pharmacy. You will assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing prescription medications in a fast-paced environment.

This role requires high school diploma and progress toward licensed technician certification; prior pharmacy clerk experience is preferred. Shift availability includes nights and weekends as needed. Compliance with HIPAA and safety policies is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working toward a licensed technician certification through a certified national program.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure adherence to SOPs and policies.
• Handles inquiries that do not require pharmacist expertise and judgment.
• Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers.
• Assists in adherence to quality assurance standards.
• Gains understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations to better serve them.
• Reports medication errors to appropriate personnel.
• Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies.
• Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Follows department and company guidelines on personal hygiene and dress.
• Adheres to statutes pertaining to a non-certified pharmacy technician.

Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications. Reporting Relations Accountable and Reports to: AVP, Pharmacy Services; FC Pharmacy Manager; Pharmacist; Lead Technician Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with co-workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies.
• Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist’s expertise and judgment.
• Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers.
• Assists in adherence to quality assurance standards.
• Gain complete understanding of Hy-Vee’s retail pharmacy operations and, offering avenues to better serve them.
• Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel.
• Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies.
• Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress.
• Adheres to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a non-certified pharmacy technician.
• Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours.
• Manually counts medication quantities and replenishes medication cells as needed.
• Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in areas as needed.
• Performs other related job duties and special projects as required.
• Assist in stocking of pharmacy supplies.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Working towards a licensed technician certification through a certified national program.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision. Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a production setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis.

High volume solutions robotics, operating software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Contacts

Has daily contact with employees, suppliers, and delivery drivers. Has occasional contact with Hy-Vee stores, trade/professional organizations and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies
