Job summary

Hy‑Vee Inc. seeks a Pharmacy Fulfillment Certified Pharmacy Technician to support the automated Central Fill Pharmacy in a fast-paced environment. You will assist pharmacists with preparation and distribution of prescriptions, label integrity, and adherence to SOPs.

The role requires a licensed Pharmacy Technician, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team under tight deadlines. Reporting to the FC Pharmacy Manager and AVP, Pharmacy Services.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current licensed Pharmacy Technician certification required.
• Experience as a pharmacy technician or clerk preferred.
• Continued education to keep license active is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist pharmacists in accurate preparation and distribution of prescriptions.
• Prepare and affix labels to prescription containers.
• Maintain cleanliness of the pharmacy and dispensing area.
• Inventory management: order, check-in, stock pharmacy supplies.
• Report medication errors to appropriate personnel.

Job Title: Pharmacy Fulfillment Certified Pharmacy Technician
Department: Pharmacy Fulfillment Center
FLSA: Non-Exempt
General Function: Works in a fast-paced production environment known as an automated Central Fill Pharmacy.

Assist pharmacists in the accurate preparation and distribution of prescription medications.

Reporting Relations: Accountable and Reports to: AVP, Pharmacy Services; FC Pharmacy Manager; Pharmacist; Lead Technicians

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Works with co‑workers as a team to ensure strict adherence to standard operating procedures and facility policies
• Handles inquiries that do not require a pharmacist's expertise and judgment.
• Assists in developing standard operating procedures
• Prepares and affixes labels to prescription containers
• Assists in training employees
• Assists in adherence to quality assurance standards
• Gain complete understanding of Hy-Vee's retail pharmacy operations and, offering avenues to better serve them
• Reports any medication errors to appropriate personnel
• Orders, checks-in, and stocks pharmacy supplies
• Maintains cleanliness of pharmacy and dispensing area
• Maintains strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
• Adheres to all statutes and regulations pertaining to a pharmacy technician
• Reports to work when scheduled and works expected number of hours
• Performs mail order call center duties including data entry to prepare prescription orders
• Manually counts medication quantities and replenishes medication cells as needed
• Replaces empty medication cells and brings full cells to robots

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in areas as needed
• Performs other related job duties and special projects as required
• Assist in stocking of pharmacy supplies

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certified as a licensed technician through a certified national program and maintains continuing education requirements to keep license active.
• Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacy clerk is preferred.

Physical Requirements

Visual requirements include: ability to see detail at near and far range with or without correction, field of vision, and color vision. Must be able to physically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, reaching, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

This position frequently involves a fast work pace in a production setting. Must be able to handle multiple tasks on a daily basis.

High volume solutions robotics, operating software, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Contacts

Has daily contact with employees, suppliers, and delivery drivers. Has occasional contact with Hy-Vee stores, trade/professional organizations and federal/state governmental or regulatory agencies
