The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor plays a key leadership role within the AMES pharmacy team, responsible for overseeing daily operations, staff supervision, and compliance in assigned areas. This position provides specialized support in areas designated by departmental leadership. The supervisor will coordinate and facilitate the onboarding, orientation, and ongoing training of new pharmacy technicians, ensuring consistency and high standards across practice areas. They will provide direct oversight for the AMES Pharmacy technician team, supporting their development, mentoring, and day‑to‑day workflow.
Key responsibilities include managing scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll processes, supporting technician performance evaluations, and ensuring adherence to all sterile compounding best practices and regulatory standards. The supervisor will collaborate closely with pharmacists, peers, and operational leadership to maintain safe, efficient, and compliant medication preparation and distribution processes across designated areas. This role requires a proactive leader with excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
This position is part of the AMES Pharmacy leadership team and will work closely with night shift pharmacist operations managers to provide direct supervision of the night shift pharmacy technician team and support optimization of technician workflows with a focus on night shift. The supervisor is responsible for overseeing the efficient and accurate provision of medications according to established standards of practice. Responsibilities include coordinating technician activities such as unit dose distribution, IV admixture, compounding, purchasing, controlled substances, OR drug preparation, pharmacy automation, investigational drug services, and inventory control. Under the direction of the Division/Assistant Director and/or Operations Manager, this role also assists with supervision, scheduling, payroll maintenance, disciplinary action, performance evaluations, recruitment, training, and performance improvement activities.

Night Shift
Sunday through Thursday nights, including every third weekend.
Minimum $27.46/hour - Maximum $48.06/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
