Job summary

IU Health in Indianapolis is seeking a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our Home Infusion Pharmacy team. This role supports sterile compounding and prepares, distributes medications under pharmacist supervision.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire.
• Absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision or clearly defined procedures.
• Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Basic proficiency typing and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Handle, prepare, compounding, and distribution of medications; maintain sterile compounding suite.
• Assist with inventory, preparation, distribution of medications and supplies, medication histories.
• Answer telephones, take refill orders, enter orders into system, prepare medications for pharmacist check.
• Prepare medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery; maintain records; deliver supplies.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions; minimize medication errors.

Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
• Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
• Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
• Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
