Job summary

IU Health, Indiana's largest and most comprehensive healthcare system, seeks a detail-oriented Pharmacy Technician for its Home Infusion team. This role supports sterile compounding, medication preparation, and distribution under pharmacist supervision to ensure high-quality patient care.

The ideal candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED, Indiana Pharmacy Technician license or in-training status, and certification within one year of hire.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Requires Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Requires Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or enrolled in or graduated from an ASHP/ACPE accredited Pharmacy Technician training program.
  • Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
  • Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Requires ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills in assigned areas and work under close supervision or under clearly defined procedures.
  • Requires ability to learn effective written and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
  • Assists with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
  • May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of IV solutions.
  • Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.

We are seeking a detail-oriented pharmacy technician to join our expanding team of sterile compounding experts and play a pivotal role in delivering these lifesaving services. As a key member of our team, this position is responsible for the handling, preparation, compounding, and distribution of medications, as well as maintaining the integrity of our sterile compounding suite. Key job duties may consist of handling supplies, stocking prepackaged items, maintaining inventory, delivering supplies, maintaining records, distributing supplies. May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions. Works with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
