Job summary

IU Health in Indiana seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support the pharmacy team under pharmacist supervision. You will assist with inventory, preparation, distribution, and medication histories, including answering calls and processing refills.

Requirements include a High School Diploma/GED, Indiana Tech license or intern status, and Certification within a year. You should have math skills, learn quickly, and type proficiently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Indiana Pharmacy Tech-In Training OR Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
• Pharmacy Technician National Certification within one year of hire unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy or ASHP/ACPE program.
• No criminal history related to ability to work with drugs.
• Strong mathematical calculation skills.
• Ability to learn basic pharmacy technician skills under supervision or defined procedures.
• Ability to learn effective written and communication skills.
• Ability to learn and execute customer services skills.
• Basic proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
• Assist with medication processing: answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into system, preparing medications for pharmacist check, and disbursement/shipment/delivery.
• Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, deliver supplies, maintain records, distribute supplies.
• May assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions.
• Work with pharmacy staff to minimize potential medication errors.

Under pharmacist supervision, supports the pharmacy department in one or more of the following areas: inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
