Job summary

Adventist Health Sierra Vista in San Luis Obispo, CA is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join the Pharmacy team on the night shift. You will assist pharmacists, fill unit dose cassettes, and support medication distribution to nursing units in this SEIU-represented role.

Responsibilities

• Pull medications from stock and match medications with labels generated by the pharmacist.
• Maintain floor stock in nursing and medication areas; restock and rotate stock; price and stock incoming deliveries.
• Prepare IV medications within applicable laws and regulations.
• Check in orders from wholesalers; distribute stock and file paperwork; process returns and back orders promptly.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Performs packaging, manipulative, repetitive, or other nondiscretionary tasks related to the furnishing of drugs, while assisting and under the direct supervision and control of a pharmacist. Fills and delivers the unit dose cassettes from the patients profile to nursing units. This position is represented by SEIU.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• State Pharmacy Techncian license: Required
• Pharmaceutical Technician Board certification: Preferred
• State Pharmacy Technician license: Required

Essential Functions

• Pulls medications from stock and matches medications with the corresponding label generated by the pharmacist involved with entry of medication orders into the patient’s computer generated profile in an accurate manner.
• Maintains floor stock (restocking, removal of expired medications, rotate stock) of nursing areas and other medication areas. Prices and stocks in-coming deliveries.
• Prepares IV medication products within the guidelines of applicable laws and regulations.
• Checks in orders from wholesaler and suppliers. Distributes appropriately the stock and file paperwork; processes returns and back orders in a timely manner.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
