Job Summary and Qualifications

  • Weekend availability is required.

The Pharmacy Technician performs advanced and basic functions accurately and timely, including duties with Automated Dispensing Cabinets (ADCs) and other specialized tasks as assigned by pharmacy management.

What you will do in this role:

  • Identify critical issues, prioritize workload, and communicate effectively.
  • Maintain competency through education and activities.
  • Interact politely with hospital personnel in person and by phone.
  • Maintain documentation logs.
  • Follow policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage medication storage and security per regulations.
  • Perform audits, quality control, and performance improvement tasks.
  • Conduct medication storage inspections.
  • Handle administrative billing and OR charges.
  • Assist pharmacists with clinical reviews and calculations.
  • Compound and label medications safely, using aseptic techniques, complying with USP 797.
  • Obtain pharmacist checks before releasing compounded medications.
  • Prepare work records, manage medication returns, restock, and perform ADC routines.
  • Troubleshoot ADC issues and reconfigure ADCs as needed.
  • Perform drug inventory management and monitor outdates.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED required.
  • IV Certification in sterile compounding (minimum 40 hours) required; certification must be obtained within 90 days if not already certified.
  • State Registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
