Job description

At Houston Methodist, the Pharmacy Technician position is responsible for completing a variety of routine pharmacy services related to medication acquisition, which may include, but are not limited to, triaging phone calls, repackaging medications, dispensing medications, labeling medications, charging/crediting medications, compounding medications, and inventorying medications. This position ensures optimal patient safety and customer service.

SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Supports the safety and efficiency of pharmacy operations and workflow needs.

• Contributes to resolving drug-related problems and maximizing patient care.

QUALITY/SAFETY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Performs safe medication distribution functions, including triage, repackaging, labeling, charging/crediting, compounding, and inventory management.

• Supports workflow, reports issues, and accurately documents activities.

• Reports near misses and errors promptly, contributing to process improvements and safety targets.

FINANCE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Uses resources efficiently, avoids waste, and recommends solutions for departmental objectives.

• Manages time effectively and prioritizes tasks independently.

GROWTH/INNOVATION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Participates in projects, seeks learning opportunities beyond baseline skills, and focuses on continual development as a Pharmacy Technician.

EDUCATION
