Schedule: Full Time

Shift: Monday – Friday, 9:45am – 6:15pm

Location: 5050 Wesley Rd Apopka, FL 32712 (Position will be remote after successful completion of training after 90 days)

The role you’ll contribute:

The Prescription Transfer Technician performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. This position works directly with members and facilitates the transfer of maintenance medications. It is required to understand all pharmacy processes relating to prescription order entry, claims adjudication, fulfillment, and shipping prescriptions. This role also answers incoming calls into the transfer call center. The technician works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.

  • Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, medical staff, departmental and administrative information with no infractions.
  • Enters new prescription orders ensuring all information is correct, including patient details, drug, medication directions, refills, and physician information.
  • Selects correct medications when processing or filling a prescription (checks NDC code), ensuring accuracy and proper inventory management.
  • Works towards daily production goals without distraction or causing disruptions.
  • Meets call center goals, including call handle ratio and volume, while contributing to a reduced abandonment rate.
  • Understands the prescription plan thoroughly and communicates effectively with members regarding prescriptions, prior authorizations, or step therapies.
  • Explains the transfer process clearly to members, facilitating smooth transfer of prescriptions to mail-order.
  • Keeps records of daily transfer metrics for the EZ Script program and ensures all information is provided to pharmacists for completion.
  • Monitors own queue to ensure timely processing of orders, adjudications, and corrections.
  • Communicates effectively regarding prescription questions or follow-up.
  • Minimizes errors and learns from any failed orders to improve future performance.
  • Maintains awareness of system pop-ups and follows through with necessary actions, keeping accurate and relevant records in the patient’s profile.
  • Selects appropriate shipping method, ensuring cost-effectiveness and meeting pharmacy standards.
  • Communicates order details within comments and ship text for QA, Pharmacist, and staff review.
  • Works within the scope of practice for a registered pharmacy technician.
  • Notifies the triage team of canceled orders beyond adjudication and communicates credits with bookkeeping as needed.
  • Leaves clear notes in the member’s profile and prescription order for issues needing staff attention.
  • Verifies that all member and dependent information is current and accurate.
