Job summary

Martin's Point Health Care in Maine is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support outpatient pharmacy services. You will create and maintain patient profiles, verify demographics and insurance, and assist with prescription processing and medication dispensing.

You will adhere to HIPAA and pharmacy regulations, work in a fast-paced environment, and collaborate with pharmacists and other staff to ensure accurate, efficient service for patients and plan members.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous pharmacy experience preferred.
• Experience in medical setting and/or knowledge of pharmacy terms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates and maintains accurate patient profiles including demographics, insurance, allergies for prescription filling and insurance adjudication.
• Balances quality and efficiency in pharmacy tasks to support patient outcomes and team goals.
• Answers routine inquiries about drug coverage, prices, formulary listings, and services; uses good judgment with patients and staff.
• Complies with HIPAA and pharmacy laws/regulations to protect patient privacy.
• Performs data entry, filling, shipping, call center, register, and inventory management to support the pharmacy group.
• Uses Athena EMR to request refills and answer non-clinical questions related to medications and interactions.
• Reviews medication purchases using reports to optimize purchasing and reduce expenses.
• Acts as a professional role model within the pharmacy and other departments.
• Displays positive attitude and teamwork in patient care and service development.
• Participates in department meetings and process improvement activities.
