Job summary

Providence Covenant Hobbs Hospital is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II to support the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and ancillary departments. This role includes triaging orders and ensuring the ADS operates accurately.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, NM board license or TX trainee/license path, and 1–2 years of hospital pharmacy experience with PTCB certification or equivalent hours.

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED required.
• Upon hire: NM Pharmacy Technician license or trainee/training path.
• Upon hire: TX Pharmacy Technician Trainee or TX Registered Technician license.
• Minimum 1 year of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system with PTCB certification, OR 2 years hospital pharmacy experience without PTCB.

Responsibilities

• Fill and dispense unit dose and stock medications to nursing units and departments.
• Fill/dispense oral and IV medications and triage orders.
• Maintain the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).

Description

The Acute Care Pharmacy Tech II performs duties relating to the filling and dispensing of unit dose and stock medications from the pharmacy to the nursing units and other ancillary departments in a prompt accurate manner. Fill/dispense oral and IV medications, triaging patient orders and maintaining the integrity of the automated dispensing system (ADS).

Required Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma or GED.
• Upon hire: New Mexico Pharmacy Technician - New Mexico Board of Pharmacy or
• Upon hire: Texas Pharmacy Technician Trainee or
• Upon hire: Texas Registered Pharmacy Technician License.
• Minimum of one year (> 2080 clock hours) of pharmacy practice in an integrated health system and current PTCB certification - OR - 2 years (>4160 hours) hospital pharmacy if not PTCB certified.

Preferred Qualifications

• Coursework/Training: Graduate of a Pharmacy Technician program.
• Specialty certification (e.g. ACPE approved sterile compounding certification) where applicable by role and state.
• Previous experience with Automated Dispensing Machines (ADMs) and electronic health records (EHR).
