Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Walgreens offers an “earn while you learn” Pharmacy Technician Training Program recognized by ASHP & the Department of Labor. This apprenticeship helps you become a Pharmacy Technician Certified by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) and maintain high standards in pharmacy care, equipping you with a portable, nationally recognized credential to advance your career.

Whether you're new or experienced, Walgreens will train you to serve and care for patients. Our program includes courses, activities, and resources to prepare you for certification and a career in pharmacy.

• Assist the pharmacist under supervision, following state and federal regulations, in pharmacy practice and other duties in accordance with company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist with pharmacy operations, coaching other technicians if certified.
• Deliver exceptional customer service, greeting customers, resolving issues, and developing strong relationships.

Customer Experience

• Engage with customers and patients, offer assistance, and ensure a positive experience.
• Share customer service best practices with team members.

Operations

• Assist in pharmacy practice, including entering information, filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and maintaining workflow.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to quality policies.
• Handle sales transactions, assist customers in locating products, and support inventory management.
• Support clinical services and build relationships with healthcare providers.
• Maintain a clean, stocked, and organized pharmacy environment.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification, attend training, and stay informed on industry developments.
• Must be fluent in English and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Preferred: six months retail experience, prior Walgreens experience, good math and computer skills, and PTCB certification.
