Responsibilities
- In accordance with state and federal regulations, assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assist the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach pharmacy technicians in operating pharmacy systems and cashiers in operating the pharmacy cash registers.
- Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.
Customer Experience
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).
- Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers.
Operations
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy under the supervision of the pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Review and comply with the Walgreens Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
- Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager, including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, verifying medicines, and checking for interactions. Support pharmacists in scheduling and workflow management.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
- Adhere strictly to Walgreens policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription activities.
- Register sales on the cash register, handle cash as required, and assist customers in locating products.
- Handle non-urgent telephone calls, including those to physicians.
- Process manual claims for third-party prescription services efficiently, and support clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and handle claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
- Assist in administering clinical services, including collecting and labeling samples, and coordinating clinical services and external providers.
- Support relationship building with the local medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy environment.
- Follow all company policies and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
- Complete other tasks and special assignments as directed.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state certification. Certification is required for promotion to senior technician.
- Attend training sessions, acquire continuing education credits, and stay informed on healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, is required.
