Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in practicing pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations. Support other Pharmacy Department duties per company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. If PTCB certified, assist and coach other pharmacy technicians and cashiers.
• Deliver a positive customer experience by engaging customers, resolving issues, and answering questions.
• Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.

Operational Tasks

• Assist in pharmacy practice under pharmacist supervision, ensuring compliance with policies and pharmacy code of conduct.
• Perform duties such as entering patient and drug data, filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and assisting with workflow scheduling.
• Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to quality and dispensing policies.
• Handle sales transactions, assist customers in locating products, and process third-party prescription claims efficiently.
• Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Support clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
• Build relationships with local medical providers through outreach and detailing.
• Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and supplies, and comply with all policies and procedures.

Training & Personal Development

• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through training and continuing education.
• Attend training sessions, acquire continuing education credits, and stay updated on healthcare news.
• Must be fluent in English (except in Puerto Rico) and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Preferred candidates have at least six months of retail experience, prior Walgreens experience, good math and computer skills, and knowledge of inventory control. PTCB certification is preferred.
