Job summary

Freedom Home Care in Chicago, IL seeks an Order Entry Specialist to manage prescription orders and ensure accuracy in a busy, on-site setting. You will handle written, faxed and electronic prescriptions, entering data precisely while supporting customer inquiries and maintaining compliance with regulations.

The role emphasizes accuracy, quick problem-solving, and teamwork in a compassionate long-term care environment.

Qualifications

• Current unencumbered license as Pharmacy Technician in IL (or IL license before 2008 if applicable)
• Experience in a specialized pharmacy order-entry environment and/or long-term care pharmacy preferred
• Excellent math, computer, communication, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Manage receipt/resolution/association of prescriptions or refill requests in the pharmacy system
• Accurately enter medication orders and process new prescriptions and refills
• Proactively handle non-clinical inquiries as primary resource in a fast-paced call center
• Comply with government regulations, standards, and patient protocols
• Participate in quality improvement programs to meet standards

$1,000 Sign On Bonus

Pay Range: $19.00 to $23.00 per hour

Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

Every Other weekend & 3 Holidays per year required

What you'll do as an Order Entry Specialist

• Manage the receipt, resolution, and association of written/faxed/electronic prescriptions or refill requests in the pharmacy management system.
• Accurately enter medication orders and process new prescriptions and refills.
• Pro-actively handle non-clinical customer inquiries, functioning as the primary resource in handling questions from routine to complex in a fast-paced call center environment.
• Comply with all applicable government regulations, standards of practice, company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
• Take part in quality improvement programs to meet company and accreditation standards.

What we need

• Current unencumbered license in the state of practice: Certified Pharmacy Technician (certification not required for Illinois Pharmacy Technicians licensed before 2008).
• Experience in a specialized pharmacy order-entry environment and/or long-term pharmacy required.
• Excellent math, computer, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail.
• Every other weekend and 3 holidays per year required.
