Job summary

Freedom Home Care is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our Illinois long-term care team. You will support cycle fill production, label creation, and medication dispensing under a Pharmacist's supervision.

Role requires good math, strong communication, and the ability to handle pharmacy equipment; physical lifting up to 40 pounds may be needed. Join us to support resident care and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Current unencumbered license in the state of practice: Certified Pharmacy Technician (certification not required for Illinois Pharmacy Technicians licensed before 2008).
  • High School diploma or GED; college preferred.
  • Experience in long-term care pharmacy, clinical pharmacy, or Home Health industry preferred or equivalent.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Perform basic math functions.
  • Knowledge of medication brand and generic names and medical terminology.
  • Sitting, standing, walking; at desk, in office throughout facility and pharmacy.
  • Occasionally lift/move items up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Lead for cycle fill production, with strict adherence to accuracy and deadline.
  • Train new cycle fill technicians upon hire and/or upon implementation of process changes.
  • Create, process, export, and/or print medication labels.
  • Sort prescription labels for cycle fill facilities based on sort requested.
  • Process, package, and dispense physician orders for medications, DME, and other medical supplies to residents in long-term care facilities under the supervision of a Pharmacist.
  • Ensure cycle medications are toted and delivered with manifests printed.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.
  • Comply with current government regulations and professional standards respecting patient care.
  • Attend and participate in pharmacy meetings and special events.
  • Be able to operate and properly maintain pharmacy equipment as it relates to job duties.
  • Assist with quality improvement programs and accreditation standards.

$1,000 Sign On Bonus**

Pay Range: $19.00 to $24.00 per hour

Hours: 2nd Shift 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM

Every Other weekend & 3 Holidays per year required

**payable in two installments; $500 at 6 months, $500 at 1 year of employment. Current internal employees and former employees re-hired within 12 months of their last date of service are not eligible.

Functions
  • Act as lead for cycle fill production, with strict adherence to accuracy and completion of tasks within deadline.

  • Comply with all applicable company policies, procedures, and patient protocols.

  • Participate in educational and professional programs and/or review professional literature on an ongoing basis to maintain knowledge and competency in current and developing techniques, professional standards, and the services offered by the pharmacy.
  • Assist in resolving facility/patient problems under emergency conditions.
  • Develop technical knowledge of the products/services provided by the pharmacy and be able to provide information of same to others upon request.
  • Be able to operate and properly maintain pharmacy equipment as it relates to job duties.
  • Assist with implementation of quality improvement program to meet company and accreditation standards.
  • Attend and participate in pharmacy meetings and special events.
  • Other duties as directed.
