Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for the overnight shift to support the hospital-wide unit dose distribution system and IV admixture program.

The role requires a Florida-registered Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) with a high school diploma and at least 3 years of pharmacy experience. You will assist in training junior techs and maintain inventory while delivering supplies to care areas.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy approved pharmacy technician training program and at least 18 years of age.
• Three (3) years of pharmacy experience.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the PTCB or NHA; FLBOP registration per Florida statutes.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose distribution system and IV admixture program.
• Fill automated medication dispensing systems with unit-dose medications.
• Procure and fill requests for pharmaceutical supplies; deliver supplies to patient care areas; manage pharmacy automation.
• Inventory narcotics and maintain pharmacy inventory.

How You'll Make An Impact

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program. Responsible for maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, preparing intravenous medications (IV) (e.g., chemotherapeutic preparations, hyper alimentations, and antibiotics), filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, delivering supplies to patient care areas, and managing pharmacy automation. Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g., documenting medication histories, chemotherapy IV compounding, preparing sterile IV medications, inventorying narcotics, or maintaining pharmacy inventory). Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians. Direct Supervision. A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments. A pharmacist reviews the technician’s work for completeness and accuracy, or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built into the nature of the work.

Required Education

High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program and at least 18 years of age.

Required Experience

Three(3) years of pharmacy experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry

Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). FLBOP registration in accordance with Florida Statutes, Title XXXII (Regulations of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Section 014 (Pharmacy Technician).
