Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) seeks a Pharmacy Technician to support the hospital-wide unit dose distribution system and IV admixture program. You will work under supervision of pharmacy leadership and pharmacists, handling technical and clerical tasks in a critical care setting.

Qualifications include a FLBOP-approved technician program, a CPhT credential, and at least 3 years of pharmacy experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and completion of FLBOP-approved pharmacy technician training program.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from PTCB or NHA; FLBOP registration.

Responsibilities

• Perform hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system tasks and IV admixture program.
• Maintain confidential reports and manage data entry in the computer system.
• Fill automated medication dispensing systems and stock supplies.
• Deliver supplies to patient care areas and assist in training lower-level technicians.

Qualifications

Required Education:

High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program and at least 18 years of age.

Required Experience: Three(3) years of pharmacy experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry: Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) credential from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). FLBOP registration in accordance with Florida Statutes, Title XXXII (Regulations of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Section 014 (Pharmacy Technician).

Responsibilities

Job Summary: Under the direct supervision of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system and the intravenous admixture program. Responsible for maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, preparing intravenous medications (IV) (e.g., chemotherapeutic preparations, hyper alimentations, and antibiotics), filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, delivering supplies to patient care areas, and managing pharmacy automation. Engages in specialized departmental activities (e.g., documenting medication histories, chemotherapy IV compounding, preparing sterile IV medications, inventorying narcotics, or maintaining pharmacy inventory). Assists in training/educating lower-level pharmacy technicians. Direct Supervision. A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments. A pharmacist reviews the technician’s work for completeness and accuracy, or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built into the nature of the work.
