Job summary

Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare (TMH) is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system under direct supervision. The technician maintains confidentiality, enters data, and assists in dispensing medications and supplying patient care areas.

Required Florida Board of Pharmacy registration with preparation to take the Tech 1 test; a Florida-registered technician training program completion is required.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the Florida Board of Pharmacy and preparing to take the Tech 1 test.
• High school diploma and successful completion of a FLBOP approved pharmacy technician training program.
• No prior experience required; six to twelve months of pharmacy experience preferred.
• FLBOP registration is required; CPhT credential from the PTCB or the NHA within one year post-hire.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision, performs technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system.
• Maintains confidential reports, enters and retrieves data, fills automated dispensing systems, procures and fills pharmaceutical supplies, and delivers to patient care areas.

Qualifications

Required Education:

• High school diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of a Florida Board of Pharmacy (FLBOP) approved pharmacy technician training program.

Preferred Experience:

• Six (6) to twelve (12) months of pharmacy experience.

Required Certification/License/Registry:

• FLBOP registration in accordance with Florida Statutes, Title XXXII (Regulations of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 465 (Pharmacy), Section 014 (Pharmacy Technician).
• CPhT credential from the PTCB or the NHA within one (1) year post-hire.

Responsibilities

Your Role:

• Under the direct supervision* of the Director/Pharmacy, Supervisor/Pharmacy, or a Pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and clerical duties for the hospital-wide unit dose drug distribution system.
  • * Direct Supervision: A pharmacist gives specific instructions on all assignments. A pharmacist reviews the technician’s work for completeness and accuracy, or the technician performs tasks with inherent checks built into the nature of the work.
• Responsible for maintaining confidential reports, entering and retrieving data utilizing the computer system, filling automated medication dispensing systems with a supply of unit dose medications, procuring and filling requests for pharmaceutical supplies, and delivering supplies to patient care areas.
