Job summary

Harborview Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for inpatient duties in the hospital’s pharmacy department. The role involves assisting pharmacists, processing prescriptions, IV preparation, and safe handling of hazardous drugs within USP 797/800 guidelines.

This is a full-time, on-site position with rotating shifts. A WA Pharmacy Technician certification and at least six months of related experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Good communication and organizational skills are required.
  • A six-month minimum experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or equivalent education/experience.
  • Familiarity with sterile IV admixture practices preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fill medications from Pyxis refill sheets for the whole hospital.
  • Deliver medications to nursing units and other hospital areas.
  • Package medications in single-unit packages.
  • Restock shelves in unit dose fill and front counter areas.
  • Complete monthly outdate checks and cleaning as assigned by Supervisor.
  • Fill Ward Stock Requisition sheets for Nursing Units.
  • Package patient-specific medications in single-unit packages.
  • Under supervision, perform bulk compounding of pharmaceuticals from a formula.
  • Enter prescriptions and charge/credit data into the system.
  • Work in the IV room and compound IV medications per USP 797 standards.
  • Handle and prepare hazardous drugs per USP 800 standards.
