CHWP utilizes a team‑based care model where the Pharmacy Technician In‑Training assists the pharmacist under direct supervision. The role involves filling prescriptions, billing third parties, collecting payments, maintaining inventory, and providing excellent customer service while supporting clinical pharmacy operations.

Primary Tasks and Duties

• Enter patient information and insurance coverage into pharmacy software.
• Submit insurance claims and follow up on rejections.
• Type labels accurately, count medications precisely, and manage inventory.
• Greet patients and visitors professionally and manage incoming calls.
• Verify patient demographic and insurance information during check‑in.
• Assist with counting, portioning, bagging, and logging prescriptions.
• Monitor refrigerator temperatures and inventory levels.
• Support billing of patients and third‑party payments, including cash and insurance transactions.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pharmacy environment.
• Adhere to OSHA, federal and state pharmacy statutes, and emergency response protocols.
• Assist with DEA, Board of Pharmacy, and accreditation compliance.
• Document drug returns and dispose of expired drugs appropriately.

Qualifications

• Work toward and complete Pharmacy Technician Trainee certification and pass the exam within the required timeline.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Active Pharmacy Technician Trainee license by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy.

• Experience with accreditation processes and federal, state, and local regulations in a community health center setting.
• Proficiency with office software and machines.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

• Occasional lifting or pushing up to 50 lbs.
• Approximately 80% of the time sitting, standing, or walking.
• Moderate manual dexterity required.
• Environmental mobility across the region necessary.

Work Environment

Provider office environment. Reasonable accommodations available. Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.

Work Hours

Full‑time or part‑time, non‑exempt, hourly position. Full‑time requires a 40‑hour work week (8:00am–7:00pm, Monday–Friday). Some Saturdays and after‑business hours work may be required, with occasional meetings and travel. Remote work may be available temporarily.

Wages

Starting wages are negotiable based on CHWP pay policies, education, experience, and local compensation averages.

Introductory Period

90‑day probationary period.
