Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a pharmacy technician training program preferred.
• Active pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) preferred or required depending on state regulations
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician preferred

Responsibilities

• Prescription Preparation and Dispensing: Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription medications.
• Accurately measure, count, and label medications for patient prescriptions.
• Operate pharmacy equipment such as pill counters and label printers.
• Customer Service: Provide friendly and efficient customer service to patients and healthcare providers.
• Answer patient inquiries regarding prescription status, medication instructions, and pharmacy services.
• Handle prescription pick-up and drop-off, ensuring accurate patient information and payment processing.
• Perform patient outreach and communicate with patients effectively to close gaps in their medication therapy.
• Inventory Management: Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, and stocking medications and supplies.
• Conduct regular inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels and prevent shortages.
• Monitor expiration dates and remove expired or recalled medications from inventory.
• Assist with the organization and cleanliness of the pharmacy storage areas.
• Data Entry and Record-Keeping: Enter prescription information into the pharmacy management system accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain accurate patient profiles and medication records.
• Process insurance claims and resolve billing issues with insurance companies.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to prescription processing and record-keeping.
• Medication Safety and Quality Assurance: Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in medication handling and dispensing.
• Assist in monitoring for potential medication errors and discrepancies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.
• Support pharmacists in conducting medication reviews and utilization reviews.
• Supportive Duties: Assist pharmacists with administrative tasks, including scheduling and workflow management.
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay updated on pharmacy policies and procedures.
• Provide training and guidance to new pharmacy technicians and interns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the pharmacist or Pharmacist-in-Charge
