WakeMed Health & Hospitals in Raleigh, NC seeks a Pharmacy Technician III to support pharmacists in delivering safe and cost-effective pharmacotherapy services. The role involves sterile compounding, regulatory oversight of controlled substances, pediatrics, medication history, patient assistance, and inventory management.
Responsibilities also include training and mentoring staff and leading at least one pharmacy-related project.
The Pharmacy Technician III performs specialized functions necessary to assist pharmacists in providing safe, efficient, friendly and cost-effective pharmacotherapy services. Specialized functions/areas include, but are not limited to the following: sterile compounding, controlled substance oversight, pediatrics, medication history, patient assistance, inventory control, medstation maintenance, unit inspection, packaging, bedside discharge service. Utilizes requisite equipment, non-sterile and/or compounding supplies, and computer systems as appropriate for the procurement, preparation for verification, and/or delivery of medication. Performs quality control procedures and contributes to the maintenance of the pharmacy, equipment, and supplies. Assumes responsibility for at least one pharmacy related project outside of normal job duties determined by supervisor/manager including workflow redesign, performance improvement, safety, quality control, regulatory, administrative, staff development, and technology. Trains and mentors new employees and/or students in the theoretical and operational aspects of procedures and serves as a mentor for less experienced staff. Works with pharmacy leadership to develop & implement 1 staff competency for the technicians, pharmacists or other health care professionals. Performs other duties as assigned.
