Position Summary

The flat rate is $21.83 for this pool position. One year plus experience needed and a hospital setting preferred. Must have active license in pharmacy through the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

Assists with operational and all distribution responsibilities as they are related to Pharmacy Technician functions including Orlando Health software and hardware systems.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrates an understanding of safety, emergency, and risk management procedures.
• Understanding of the hospital mission, personnel policies, philosophy, goals, customer service, and objectives of the Pharmacy and Orlando Health.
• Familiarity with general duties and processes of the Pharmacy department.
• Ability to identify and utilize resources and departments for customer service and patient care, based on need, availability, and responsibility of resources.
• Operate equipment required for pharmacy procedures, following operating instructions, safety regulations, and policies.
• Perform basic Pharmacy Technician procedures consistent with scientific principles, policies, and procedures.
• Perform basic buyer procedures including drug procurement in accordance with departmental principles and policies.
• Assist Pharmacist with medication distribution duties, including aseptic techniques for admixture of medications (e.g., chemotherapy) and tasks related to automated dispensing cabinets.
• Maintain USP 797 standards and other regulatory documentation.
• Maintain safe handling and proper disposal of medications.
• Complete assigned special projects.
• Participate in training of new pharmacy technicians if needed.
• Maintain expertise in and cover technician services in specialized practice areas as needed.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance in accordance with policies and standards.
• Ensure compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

Licensure/Certification: Current Pharmacy Technician registration with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy.

Experience: Greater than one year up to four years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
