Pharmacy Technician II- Inpatient- West Penn Hospital

Job Overview

This position provides distributive pharmacy services, assistance, and support for the registered pharmacist.

Essential Responsibilities

1. Process medication orders, including computer order entry, medication preparation, and assembly prior to pharmacist final check. (25%)
2. Maintain pharmacy inventory and supplies according to policies and procedures, including inspection of areas and use of pharmacy computer systems. (25%)
3. Provide customer service by taking prescriptions, documenting information, handling interactions courteously, and releasing medications as per policy. (25%)
4. For Outpatient Techs: Validate insurance coverage, handle cash, prepare deposits, and accounting reports. (25%)
5. For Inpatient Techs: Compound, stock, repackage, and batch medications; prepare routine IV orders including compounding, labeling, and handling of various medications. (25%)
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT from NHA. Incumbents as of July 1, 2022, must achieve CPhT by 1/1/2024.
• Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or 1 year of equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of pharmacy experience in the respective area.
