JOB SUMMARY - Overnight 7on/7off
The Pharmacy Technician 2 assists in the technical aspects of medication distribution and related functions. They are capable of performing tasks independently and maintaining a specialized area of responsibility while supporting pharmaceutical care delivery.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
- Maintain a specialized area of responsibility and assist in care delivery in areas such as Purchasing, Receiving, Auditing, Sterile and Nonsterile Compounding, Billing, Informatics, Medication Reconciliation, Licensing, Contracting, and Marketing.
- Enter medication orders from doctors' sheets or prescriptions, ensuring correct dispensing, dosage form, and charge accuracy according to formulary; enter billing data accordingly.
- Complete and file paperwork for pharmacy supplies, monitor lost charges, and order supplies daily, coordinating returns for expired pharmaceuticals.
- Coordinate the Drug Recall Process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked work environment following policies and procedures.
- Perform inventory control including stocking, cleaning, and facing shelves.
- Compound or admix ingredients for dispensing, cart fill, and sterile preparation under pharmacist supervision.
- Perform IV admixtures using aseptic techniques in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist patients and medical staff with nonjudgmental questions under pharmacist supervision.
- Answer simple questions from staff and patients.
- Deliver medications and delivery carts to floors daily.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Knowledge of pharmacy care modalities, terminology, calculations, drug use, and aseptic techniques.
- Understanding of procedures and standards for labeling and dispensing prescriptions.
- Ability to read, write, follow instructions, and verify data accurately.
- Adherence to safety, infection control, and environmental practices.
- Excellent social skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
- Basic computer skills including data entry, security, electronic documentation, and email.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of experience
- Certification from TX Board of Pharmacy: Registered Pharmacy Intern (RPH-INT) or Pharmacy Technician (PHT)
