Job summary

City of Hope is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to operate under Pharmacist supervision in California, focusing on packaging, preparation, and compounding of oral and intravenous medications, including chemotherapy and biohazard meds.

Qualifications

• CA Registered Pharmacy Technician required or pending.
• 3+ years performing related duties as a pharmacy technician.
• CPhT certification from PTCB preferred.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician II! This position requires a California Registered Technician who will operate under Pharmacist Supervision. The primary responsibilities include packaging, preparation, and compounding of oral medications, intravenous medications, as well as chemotherapy/biohazard medications. Additionally, the role involves implementing and maintaining control procedures, conducting inventory management, and overseeing stock control.

As a successful candidate, you will:

• Ensure compliance with USP 797 & 800 at all times.
• Utilize proper aseptic technique for all pharmaceutical mixing.
• Order, receive, and maintain accurate medication inventory.
• Coordinate with Specialty Pharmacies or manufacturers for timely deliveries of medications for infusion.
• Perform routine daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning as required.
• Procure and maintain supplies necessary for daily mixing operation.
• Prescription order entry and processing.
• Coordinate and submit prior authorizations.
• Determine patient’s prescription benefits and seek appropriate financial assistance when applicable.
• Assist with routing and release of prescriptions to the appropriate pharmacy.
• Properly label and fill prescription drugs.

Your qualifications should include:

• High School or equivalent or Post‑High‑School vocational/specialized training or graduation from a foreign school of Pharmacy.
• 3 or more years of performing related duties as a pharmacy technician.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB), preferred.

Additional Information:

• Hourly Per Diem Rate: $32.19
