Job summary

Menorah Medical Center seeks a Pharmacy Technician II to support pharmaceutical preparation and distribution under licensed pharmacist supervision. The role spans non-sterile to sterile compounding, hazardous processes, and medication delivery across units.

The technician will rotate through Main Pharmacy, Pyxis, CII Safe, Sterile/Hazardous, and Controlled Substance duties, participating in onboarding and departmental projects as needed. A strong attention to detail and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

  • One year of inpatient Pharmacy Technician experience.
  • Technician license/certification with the applicable state Board of Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT, ExCPT, or national equivalent accredited by NCCA) is required. ASHP certificates are preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to work accurately with attention to detail; possesses communication, teamwork, customer service, computer skills, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Orientation period: four to six weeks

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision of licensed pharmacists, perform non-sterile, sterile and hazardous compounding as needed.
  • Stock automated dispensing cabinets (e.g., Pyxis) and check medication storage areas for outdated meds.
  • Deliver medications to patient care areas and assist with billing and related duties.
  • Rotate through Main Pharmacy, Pyxis, CII Safe, Sterile/Hazardous, and Controlled Substance duties.
  • Participate in training, onboarding, department projects and committees.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician II performs functions related to pharmaceutical preparation and distribution. These functions will be assigned by pharmacists and pharmacy leaders based on the pharmacy workflow to support patient care needs. These tasks may include but are not limited to non-sterile compounding, sterile compounding, hazardous compounding, stocking automated dispensing cabinets, unit dose drug preparation, delivering medications to patient care areas, checking medication storage areas for outdated, billing, and other duties as assigned.

The Pharmacy Technician II has a breadth of skills to allow rotation through 4 or more of these areas, as defined by facility needs: Main Pharmacy, Pyxis, CII Safe, Sterile Compounding, Non Sterile compounding, Hazardous Compounding, and Controlled Substance Tech duties.

The individual is engaged in the pharmacy department’s processes through participation in training and onboarding of new hires, participating in department projects as assigned, and participating on a department or hospital committee. Participation with professional associations is preferred but not required.

Work under the direct supervision of pharmacists and pharmacy leadership, ensuring compliance with applicable policies, laws, regulations, and procedures prescribed by the immediate supervisor.
