Michigan State University College of Engineering is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support daily pharmacy operations, ensuring safe, accurate preparation and timely distribution of medications.

The role requires organization, reliability, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, with strong teamwork and professional communication with veterinarians, nurses, students, pharmacists, and other health‑care professionals.

Qualifications

• Knowledge normally acquired from specialized training in a pharmacy technician program.
• one to three years of progressively more responsible or more expansive work experience in a pharmacy setting, including familiarity with insurance requirements (for non-veterinary pharmacies), and computer and math skills; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• current State of Michigan Pharmacy Technician license and certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician, requiring 20 hours of continuing education every two years to maintain certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, package, label, and dispense medications accurately under the direction of a pharmacist.
• Receive, process, and maintain medication orders and assist with inventory management.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Work independently and demonstrate sound judgment when completing assigned responsibilities.
• Collaborate effectively as a team member and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
• Communicate and engage professionally with veterinarians, nurses, students, pharmacists, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Assist with answering questions, resolving medication-related issues, and providing excellent customer service within the scope of the technician's role.
• Maintain accurate records and follow all applicable pharmacy policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Adapt to changing priorities and demands while consistently meeting deadlines.
• Support students and other team members by providing guidance and assistance with pharmacy processes and daily operations.
• Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions.
• Perform other pharmacy-related duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements
