Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Detroit is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support to pharmacists. Under supervision, you will prepare, package and label IV and unit dose medications in compliance with orders and procedures.

Responsibilities include setup of work area, assisting pharmacists, handling labeling and prep tasks, and maintaining records. The role requires a Michigan pharmacy license and at least two years of experience, with per diem hours

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid Michigan Limited or Full Pharmacy Technician License required.
• Two (2) years of Pharmacy Technician experience required.
• Computer experience preferred.
• Previous pharmacy experience or coursework in pharmacy curriculum preferred.

• Perform pharmacy computer functions as required.

• Respond to patient admissions, transfers, discharges and processed orders according to procedures.

Position Summary

Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the Pharmacist. Under the direction and final check of a licensed Pharmacist prepares, packages and labels IV and unit dose interim and maintenance medications according to prescriber orders and to established policies and procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Sets up, organizes and maintains work area.
• Assists Pharmacists, and under their direction, performs duties such as, but not limited to, filling containers, preparing and affixing labels, prepackaging pharmaceuticals, maintaining records, and stocking supplies.
• Performs pharmacy computer functions as required.
• Prepares and labels IVs, hyperalimentation solutions, chemotherapy agents, and other pharmaceutical products.
• Responds to patient admission, transfer, discharge, discontinued medication notices, and processes physician orders, according to established procedure.

Required

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid Michigan Limited, or Full Pharmacy Technician License
• Two (2) years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician

Preferred

• Computer experience
• Previous pharmacy experience or courses in pharmacy curriculum
