Job summary

Dayton Children's Hospital is seeking a Pharmacy Technician II to assist the pharmacist with medication preparation for dispensing in the Inpatient Pharmacy.

Under direct supervision, you will perform technical tasks, maintain compliance with State Board of Pharmacy requirements, and participate in quality improvement projects and training.

Qualifications

• Education: HSD/GED is required.
• Certifications: CPhT - Certified Pharmacy Technician - State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist

• Prepares medications and properly displays product for pharmacist to verify and dispense
• Understands technician role vs pharmacist role and adheres to regulations established by the State Board of Pharmacy
• Consults pharmacist with questions pertaining to patient care and ensures procedures are followed appropriately
• Works cooperatively with other technicians and pharmacists to ensure overall goal of medication preparation is performed accurately and efficiently
• Maintains integrity of pharmaceutical products throughout preparation
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment
• Accurately prepares and distributes patient medications

The pharmacy technician II works under supervision of the pharmacist, and focuses on accurate medication preparation following established policy and procedures set forth by the Pharmacy Department. This role meets the requirements of being a qualified pharmacy technician as established by the State Board of Pharmacy and holds a Certified Pharmacy Technician license from a State Board of Pharmacy accredited agency. The technician complies with state and federal drug laws as regulated by the state board of pharmacy, the drug enforcement administration, and the food and drug administration, along with other regulatory agencies. The pharmacy technician II has mastered job duties and responsibilities and takes active part in training technicians and quality improvement projects.

• Answers the phone promptly and directs caller to the appropriate person

• Sorts, stocks and labels medications and monitors inventory
• Assists in expired drug process and procedures
