Job summary

Advocate Health's Good Shepherd Hospital – Pharmacy seeks a part-time Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in medication prep and distribution. Duties include labeling, inventory, order processing, and assisting in quality and regulatory compliance. Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT required within 18 months of start.

Flexible shifts; weekend coverage available; on-site role in Illinois. Strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to work across departments are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• State board registration/licensure required; must obtain CPhT or ExCPT within 18 months.
• No work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with technical duties in medication prep and distribution.
• Select, prepare, and label medications including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen calls and route using proper etiquette.
• Assist in daily procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking, and waste of controlled substances as applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture per entity definitions where applicable.
• Inspect storage areas for adherence to policies.
• Document patient admission histories and data entry for records.
• Learn third-party billing functions as needed.
• Demonstrate care appropriate to patient age groups.
