Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a reliable Pharmacy Technician for the Outpatient Pharmacy at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center in Chicago. The role supports pharmacists, completes labeling, prepares medications, and helps with inventory and regulatory compliance.

Hours are 40 per week, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–6:00 PM, with holidays off. The position involves patient interaction, bags bedside delivery through related programs, and collaboration with Social Work/Care Management to ensure access

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy per state of employment requirements.
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) or ExCPT within 18 months of start date.

Responsibilities

Assists licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
Selects, prepares, and labels medications for patients, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
Assists with medication distribution and inventory control.
Screens calls and routes them with proper etiquette.
Maintains documentation for controlled substances and wastage as applicable.
Performs nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
Performs sterile IV admixtures when required, using aseptic technique.
Inspects storage areas for policy adherence and safety.
Records patient demographics and enters data into the pharmacy system for record keeping, eligibility, and labeling.
Supports immunization activities if certified and supervised.
