Job summary

Carolinas Medical Center - Pharmacy is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support licensed pharmacists in preparation, labeling, and distribution of medications with emphasis on safety and accuracy. The role includes nonsterile compounding and sterile IV admixtures where applicable, with a 7 on/7 off schedule and a 40-hour work week.

Eligibility for a sign-on bonus is noted. Certification within 18 months (CPhT or ExCPT) is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must obtain CPhT or ExCPT certification within 18 months of start date.
• No prior work experience required.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist with preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications, including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Support daily pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Screen calls and route them using proper etiquette.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards.
• Perform sterile IV admixtures where applicable.
• Maintain storage areas in compliance with policies.
• Document medication histories and data entry into the pharmacy system.
• Assist in immunization certification and immunizations if supervised.
