Responsibilities

Performs all tasks necessary to prepare and deliver medications using a variety of transport mechanisms under the directions of a pharmacist; fills stat medication orders; prepares medication cart for distribution; operates and maintains equipment and reports malfunctioning or broken equipment; uses PC to access HIS or the Pharmacy Purchasing System; restocks all work areas by transfer of stock or filling of appropriate carts/drawers, including emergency stock; maintains current and adequate medication and supplies; utilizes the correct documentation tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions; maintains accurate and complete records by utilizing the correct documentation tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions and maintaining proper records for all medications and controlled substances dispensed or received; maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas, equipment, and supply areas; adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards and abides by and enforces all compliance requirements and hospital policies including confidentiality; communicates and uses appropriate customer relation skills with physicians, patients, families and healthcare team in person and via the telephone and the ability to respond to overhead pages; regular and prompt attendance and the ability to work assigned shift including overtime and call; other duties as assigned.
