Pharmacy Technician I - Providence Hospital

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver medications using various transport mechanisms under the direction of a pharmacist.
• Fill stat medication orders and prepare medication carts for distribution.
• Operate and maintain pharmacy equipment, reporting malfunctions.
• Use PC to access HIS or the Pharmacy Purchasing System.
• Restock work areas, including emergency stock, and maintain medication and supply levels.
• Utilize proper documentation tools and procedures for all pharmacy functions.
• Maintain accurate records for medications and controlled substances dispensed or received.
• Keep work areas, equipment, and supply areas clean and orderly.
• Follow Infection Control and Safety Standards and hospital policies, including confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, families, and healthcare team members.
• Respond to overhead pages and work assigned shifts, including overtime and calls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be registered with the Alabama State Board of Pharmacy (ALBOP) as a Pharmacy Technician and complete an ALBOP-approved hospital technician training course within six months of registration, per ALBOP requirements. Experience is preferred.
