Job Summary and Qualifications

The Pharmacy Technician I performs basic pharmacy technician functions accurately and timely.

Qualifications:

• Ability to identify critical issues, prioritize workload, and communicate effectively.
• Complete all education and competency requirements.
• Polite and appropriate interaction with hospital personnel in person and by phone.
• Maintain accurate documentation logs.
• Comply with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain medication storage and security per regulations.
• Perform quality control and performance improvement tasks.
• Perform and document medication storage inspections monthly.
• Perform basic billing and OR charges timely.
• Accurately perform calculations and compound medications following aseptic techniques and USP 797 standards.
• Obtain pharmacist’s final check before releasing compounded medications.
• Prepare work records, process medication returns, and restock supplies.
• Support automated dispensing systems and pharmacy computer systems.
• Replenish ADCs and emergency carts, package medications, and notify inventory needs.
• Monitor outdates and handle medication receiving and checking.

Minimum Qualifications:

• State Registration as a Pharmacy Technician.
• High School Graduate or GED.
