Job summary

A leading healthcare organization in northwest Florida is looking for a Patient Care Technician to assist nursing staff in delivering exceptional patient care. This role involves a variety of routine tasks, including patient interaction and clerical duties to support healthcare operations. Candidates should have a High School Diploma, be certified in BLS, and possess strong communication and organizational skills to create a safe and effective environment for patients.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (American Heart Association) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to patients in collaboration with licensed personnel.
  • Assume clerical duties necessary to assist the healthcare team.
  • Maintain supplies and inventory for the department.

Job Description

Under the direct supervision of licensed personnel, performs a variety of routine duties to assist the nursing staff in the delivery of patient care. As a direct care staff, the technician spends the majority of his or her time interacting with, assisting, and supporting our patients. Along with ensuring a safe environment, this position develops with each individual a therapeutic relationship which is critical in the healing process.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to provide direct care to patients in collaboration with licensed personnel.
  • Performs all responsibilities/duties required by patient care services, as defined in the scope of service, to ensure that the unique nature of the patients are addressed.
  • Assumes clerical duties necessary to assist the healthcare team to provide patient care.
  • Receives and directs phone calls and serves as the receptionist for the department.
  • Maintains supplies/inventory for department.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment effectively.
  • Maintains current knowledge/certification.


Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required

Licenses and Certifications

  • BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Required

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Effective communication skills. (High proficiency)
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Strong interpersonal and team skills
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills required. (High proficiency)
  • Knowledge of acceptable ranges of blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and EKG. (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to document and utilize electronic health record applications.
  • Empathy and excellent listening skills. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to deal appropriately with confidential information.
