Job summary

Stamford Health is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support the Department of Pharmacy with a focus on accuracy and patient safety. The role involves dispensing, inventory management, and preparation under pharmacist supervision.

Responsibilities include handling Pyxis inventory, secure control-substance procedures, billing duties, and unit-dose preparation. A CT license and CPhT certification are required, with up to six months to obtain if needed.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Active CT Pharmacy Technician State Registration required.
• National pharmacy technician certification (CPhT) required.
• Preferred to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Works under supervision of a licensed pharmacist and all medication activities are checked by a pharmacist.
• Manages Pyxis inventory, drug selection, refilling, stock rotation and expiry dates.
• Ensures secure handling of controlled substances per policy and regulations.
• Assists pharmacists with timely pharmacy services including medication dispensing and unit-dose selection.
• Performs billing/charging duties and maintains temperature logs per policy.
• Conducts monthly inventory inspections and processes supplier orders accurately.
• Triages medication needs via the electronic health record (Epic) and prepares non-sterile extemporaneous preparations per USP795.
