Job summary

Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin seeks a Pharmacy Technician to assist licensed pharmacists with preparation and distribution of medications, including labeling, inventory management, and third-party billing responsibilities.

You will perform nonsterile compounding, sterile IV admixture where applicable, verify patient demographics, and maintain strict regulatory compliance while delivering high-quality pharmaceutical services across departments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Registration or licensure with state board of pharmacy.
• Certification (CPhT or ExCPT) within 18 months from start date.
• No work experience required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and matrix structures.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacist in preparation and distribution of medications.
• Accurately select, prepare, and label medications for patients including hazardous drugs and controlled substances.
• Assist with medication distribution tasks.
• Screen calls and route as needed with proper etiquette.
• Assist in pharmacy procurement, inventory control, and outdate checking.
• Document removal, stocking, and wasting of controlled substances where applicable.
• Perform nonsterile compounding per USP standards where applicable.
• Perform sterile IV admixture using aseptic technique where applicable.
• Inspect medication storage areas for adherence to policies.
• Record patient demographics and data in pharmacy system; insurance verification and label generation; cashiering.
• Develop competence in third-party billing functions.
• May obtain immunization certification and perform immunizations under supervision where applicable.
• Operate Advocate Health-owned vehicle to deliver medications and supplies as required.
